Claire earned her PhD in History from Cambridge University, and taught Medieval History at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her academic research and publications have focused on the late medieval London-area monastery of Syon Abbey.

She is currently writing a book of comparative religion and philosophy for the general public, titled Human Believing: God, Science, and Philosophy Across Cultures.
